We present William Shakespeare’s great Chronicle Play
King Henry IV rules a kingdom in turmoil. The powerful Percy family which helped bring Henry to the the throne has rebelled against the crown, and war is coming. The young champion Harry Percy - the famous Hotspur, thirsts for battle and seems unstoppable.
All the while, Prince Hal, heir to the throne, is absent from the court. While his father tries to hold the kingdom together, Hal parties in London’s underworld.
There will be a reckoning.
This play shows an incredible tapestry of life in medieval England, from the highest to the lowest. We see the great affairs of court, intrigue and battle. And we see merry England in full flower, with our guide, the extraordinary Falstaff, drinking, thinking, declaiming, bullying, and running away when things get too dangerous.
History is wild!
